Last Friday several members of the ICN2 were at CaixaForum Madrid for the Obra Social La Caixa awards ceremony. Among those receiving grants to complete their doctoral studies were Xiaoman Mao, Marc Vila and Ramón García.
As part of La Caixa’s long-standing commitment to research, this fourth call for its Doctorates at Universities and Research Centres in Spain and International La Caixa-Severo Ochoa Doctorates programmes was well-represented by the ICN2.
Xiaoman Mao, a PhD student in the ICN2 Nanostructured Functional Materials Group led by CSIC Research Scientist Daniel Ruiz-Molina; Marc Vila, PhD student in the ICN2 Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group, led by ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, and; Ramón García, PhD student in the ICN2 Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group, led by ICREA Research Prof. Jose Antonio Garrido, all beat 1899 other candidates to receive a La Caixa-Severo Ochoa grant to complete their PhDs at the ICN2. A total of 68 grants were awarded.
Aside from the three winners and Ruiz-Molina, CSIC Research Prof. and ICN2 Director Pablo Ordejón was in attendance on the day, also joined by ICN2 People Development Officer Julio Gómez.
Here we leave you with a video of Marc Vila talking about the award and his research:
