Join the first Taiwan-Spain workshop on “2D Materials and Interfaces for Spintronics”

by Àlex Argemí

The ICN2 and the Taiwanese National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) are coordinating the first joint Taiwan-Spain workshop on "2D Materials and Interfaces for Spintronics". It will take place on the UAB Campus, just outside the city of Barcelona, from 23 to 25 October 2017. Register today to join the conversation on the rapidly-evolving field of 2D material and interfaces for spintronics.

The workshop will bring together a group of leading researchers from Taiwan and Spain working in the fascinating and rapidly-evolving field of two-dimensional materials and interfaces for spintronics. The event offers a programme covering a wide range of topics, including:

  • New spin-orbit coupled materials and interfaces (including functionalised graphene, 2D heterostructures, transition metal dichalcogenides, topological insulators, etc.)
  • Classical and quantum spin and valley Hall effects
  • Spin relaxation
  • Spin-charge conversion mechanisms
  • Spin pumping
  • Magnetic absorbates on surfaces
  • Magnetic scanning tunneling probes
  • Magnetism and topological phases of matter at interfaces
  • Superconductivity in spin-split systems
  • Topological superconductivity
  • Superconductor-magnet hybrid junctions

This first such joint initiative is being coordinated by Prof. Miguel A. Cazalilla (National Tsing Hua University and National Center for Theoretical Sciences), Prof. Minn-Tsong Lin (National Taiwan University) and, from the ICN2, ICREA Prof. Aitor Mugarza, ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche and ICREA Prof. Sergio Valenzuela.

Register as soon as possible to benefit from the Early Bird Registration (250€) and be among the 90 attendees of this exciting event. The registration fee includes admission to the workshop, all conference material, lunches, coffee breaks and a conference dinner.
