Last July the ICN2 had the honour of hosting a talk by Prof. Bilge Yildiz of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Hosted by Dr José Santiso, leader of the Nanomaterials Growth Unit, Prof. Yildiz presented her group’s findings on the mechanisms underlying oxygen reduction kinetics in perovskite oxides. While here, she also gave a short interview (video below) in which she talks about her transition from theoretical to applied research, and posits openness and the love of a challenge as the defining traits of her MIT colleagues.
The leader of the Laboratory for Electrochemical Interfaces, her research is focused on understanding and improving surface chemistries, with a range of applications from fuel cells to electrolysis and electrochemical fuel synthesis.
