Dr Antonio Benítez receives Best Experimental PhD Thesis Award from GEFES

Former PhD student at the ICN2, in the Physics and Engineering of Nanodevices Group.

The Condensed Matter Physics Division (GEFES) of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics has conferred to Dr Luis Antonio Benítez the Award for the Best Experimental PhD Thesis in Condensed Matter Physics in the edition corresponding to theses defended between October 2020 and September 2021.

Dr Benítez received his PhD in November 2020 for his work on "Spin-orbit coupling in graphene/transition metal dichalcogenides devices", which he carried out at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, under the supervision of ICREA Prof. Sergio O. Valenzuela and Dr Marius V. Costache, group leader and senior researcher of the ICN2 Physics and Engineering of Nanodevices Group, respectively, and ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche, leader of ICN2 Theoretical and Computational Nanoscience Group.

Dr Benítez is currently Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US).
