BIST Master Training Day and Colloquium at the ICN2

by Virginia Greco

An event especially organised for the students of the BIST Master of Multidisciplinary Research Research in Experimental Sciences, which included a lecture by Prof. Alireza Dolatshahi‐Pirouz (DTU, Denmark), was hosted at the ICN2.

On April 4, the ICN2 hosted a training day organised by the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) in the framework of the Master of Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences. Special guest of this event was Prof. Alireza Dolatshahi‐Pirouz, assistant professor at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), where he leads the #TeamBioEngine group and carries out research on advanced materials for application in nanomedicine, electronics and tissue engineering.

After an initial discussion session dedicated exclusively to the BIST master's students, Prof. Dolatshahi‐Pirouz gave a public talk –which was part od the BIST Colloquium Series 2021-22— titled ‘From Tissue Engineering to Cybernetics’. ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi, leader of the ICN2 Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, chaired the session. Following, Dr Ruslán Álvarez and Dr Giulio Rosati, postdoctoral researchers in Prof. Merkoçi’s group, gave the students a tour of some of the ICN2 laboratories.

About the Master

The Master of Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences organised by BIST is a full-time one-year programme with highly flexible and personalised hands-on research training in a multidisciplinary research environment. Students will spend two thirds of the time working in the labs of top research centres, under the supervision of internationally renowned researchers. This Master programme is designed for candidates who intend to undertake a PhD or pursue a research career in fundamental science and technology. It is open to candidates who hold a degree in health sciences, engineering, computer sciences or basic scientific disciplines (chemistry, physics, biology, or mathematics).

The second call for applications for this Master is currently open (until May 2). Learn more.
