The Deep Tech community meets in Barcelona

The Barcelona Deep Tech Summit (September 22) unfolds a dense programme of roundtables, discussions, and pitches for investors.

The scientific and technological entrepreneurship community met today (September 22) at the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit. This event gathers scientists, investors, start-ups as well as bigger companies that are interested in bringing disruptive technologies to the market.

After the official inauguration, a series of thematic roundtables followed, where trends, specific technology transfer issues and experiences were shared. The topics tackled spanned artificial intelligence, next generation communication systems (5G), 3D printing, manufacturing processes, health, urban mobility, quantum technologies, etc. ICREA Prof. José Antonio Garrido, leader of the ICN2 Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group and co-founder and CSO of ICN2-ICREA spin-off Inbrain Neuroelectronics, participated in the discussion about deep tech for health application, public-private technology transfer and collaboration with hospitals.

The event includes a Start-ups Exhibition, the Barcelona Deep Tech Match –aimed to connect start-ups and corporates with technological needs— and an Investment Forum –for investors interested in projects related to advanced materials, artificial intelligence, blockchain, robotics, photonics, electronics, quantum computing, and space technologies. Dr Claudio Roscini, senior researcher in the ICN2 Nanostructured Functional Materials Group and CTO of the ICN2 spin-off Futurechromes, participated in the Industrial Forum.  Members of the ICN2 Business and Innovation Area attended the event.
