by Virginia Greco

This Fellowship is assigned to APS members who have distinguished themselves by making important contributions to physics.

The Council of Representatives of the American Physical Society (APS) has selected ICREA Prof. Sergio O. Valenzuela, leader of the ICN2 Physics and Engineering of Nanodevices Group, to become an APS Fellow. He was recommended for this honour by the APS Topical Group on Magnetism and its Applications (GMAG) “for seminal contributions to spin transport and spin dynamics in metals and van der Waals heterostructures, including spin-orbit-coupling phenomena and proximity effects”.

The APS Fellowship is a prestigious recognition assigned to Prof. Valenzuela by his professional peers in the APS for his outstanding contributions he has made to physics. It is given to members who have made advances in physics through original research and publication or have contributed significantly to the application of physics to science and technology.
