Representatives of two ICN2 spin-off companies, Futurechrome and DistInkt, took part in the meeting.
The Parc de Recerca de la Universitat Aútonoma de Barcelona (PRUAB) held a networking event for start-ups on January 27. Its aim was to promote networking between the companies born in the context of the UAB and the research centres on its campus, the sharing of knowledge and experience, and the establishment of new collaborations.
Two spin-off companies from the ICN2, Futurechromes S. L and DistInkt, participated in the event. Both of them originated from research carried out in the Nanostructured Functional Materials Group, led by Prof. Daniel Ruiz-Molina. Futurechrome is developing and commercialising highly transparent and long-lasting photo-responsive coatings, based on photochromic nanomaterials. They are meant for application in smart windows, ophthalmic lenses, sportswear, and fashion products. DistInkt is specialising in producing inks based on nano and micro particles that change colour or fluoresce when irradiated with infrared light. Very dynamic and tuneable, they can be customised and adapted to applications against counterfeiting of official documents, banknotes, luxury products and other goods.
Dr Claudio Roscini (CTO of Futurechrome and CSO of DistInkt) and Dr Àlex Juliá (CTO of DistInkt) took part as representatives of the two companies.
