#100tífiques brings female role models into schools

by Virginia Greco

Another successful edition of #100tífiques has been held this year, with a high participation by ICN2 scientists.

On the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the ICN2 has taken part in the fifth edition of #100tífiques, an initiative of the Fundació Catalana per a la Recerca i la Innovació (FCRI) and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), with the collaboration of the Generalitat de Catalunya’s Departments of Education, and of Research and Universities.

#100tífiques aims to highlight the contribution of women in the various fields of science and technology and to provide young people with real role models. In order to achieve this goals, activities with school pupils are organised and many research centres are involved.

Ten women researchers at the ICN2 participated in this year’s edition: Dr Belen Ballesteros, Dr Neus Bastús, Maria del Pilar Bernícola, Dr Elena del Corro, Marta Lucia Dominguez, Dr Marta González, Dr Rosa M. González, Dr Sara Martí, Dr Margarita Navia, and Dr Marianna Sledzinska. After a Meet-Up that took place on February 2 at the Barcelona City Council, on February 10 the scientists went to primary schools in Catalonia to talk about their career, perform some hands-on activities, and hopefully inspire future generations to follow their path.

Get to know better the protagonists of this initiative, our female researchers, in these videos, available on the ICN2 Youtube channel.
