Dr Martín Colombano Sosa awarded the UAB Extraordinary Doctorate Prize in Physics 2019-2020

by Virginia Greco

During his doctoral studies at the ICN2, within the groups led by Prof. Dr Clivia Sotomayor-Torres and Prof. Sergio Valenzuela respectively, Dr Colombano Sosa worked on the high-precision measurement of magnetic fields and synchronization in optomechanical cavities.

Dr Martín Facundo Colombano Sosa carried out his doctoral studies at the UAB and at the ICN2 under the supervision of Dr Daniel Navarro-Urrios and Dr Marius Costache, formerly researchers in the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group and in the ICN2 Physics and Engineering of Nanodevices Group, respectively.

He defended his thesis, titled “High precision measurements of magnetic fields and synchronization in optomechanical cavities”, in September 2020. This work earned him the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize in Physics 2019-2020 of the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona (UAB).

The UAB Extraordinary Doctorate Prizes are awarded to graduate students across all the areas of the Doctoral Programme among all the theses defended in an academic year (one prize for every five theses), without the doctor being required to apply for it. Awardees are entitled to a refund of the fee they paid to apply for the degree and to a certificate.
