Educators explore nanoscience at ICN2's engaging NanoEduca training session

by Àlex Argemí

A contingent of twenty teachers engaged in an interactive training session at the ICN2 on 7th November as part of the innovative NanoEduca programme. This session, the second of four, highlighted educational tools like the NanoKit and virtual resources, signifying a step forward in bringing nanoscience into the classroom.

On Tuesday, 7th November, ICN2 hosted the second of four sessions of this year's NanoEduca training, tailored for educators to delve into the world of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Twenty participating teachers experienced a hands-on introduction to NanoEduca's educational materials, including the NanoKit and the NanoEduca virtual platform.

This session was a part of a wider program scheduled to enrich educators' repertoires with nanoscience knowledge. Organized by the University of Barcelona’s Institute of Education Sciences (ICE), the collaboration is designed to weave nanoscience more seamlessly into secondary education curricula. The institutions leading NanoEduca are ICN2, UB, UAB and CESIRE (Catalan Ministry of Education).

The session was deemed as useful and exciting by both participants and presenters, who were Àlex Argemí and Ana de la Osa, form the ICN2 Marketing, Communication and Fundraising Department, and members of the Societat Catalana de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (SOCnano), such as Diego de la Vega. This society is supporting the implementation of the educational materials through dissemination actions using the NanoEduca Materials.

The teachers participating in the training will be encouraged to attend next year's NanoEduca closing event in May. It promises to be a vibrant gathering featuring students who have interacted with NanoEduca throughout the year, showcasing the real-world impact of nanoscience education.
