Over five days, the conference featured more than 200 talks and workshops on nanotechnology, materials science, nanomedicine and environmental research.
From October 28 to November 1, the Albanian capital, Tirana, hosted the NanoBalkan International Conference for the fourth time. Phantoms Foundation organised the dynamic event, which was chaired by ICN2 ICREA Professor Arben Merkoçi and supported by the University of Tirana, the SUSNANO Project, NanoAlb, and the Academy of Sciences of Albania.
This year’s edition gathered over 200 inspiring talks across nanotechnology and material science, along with collaborative workshops involving participants from Albania, Spain, and Japan focused on nanotechnology, and from Albania, Italy and Spain on nanomedicine. The agenda also included the traditional NanoBiosensors School, an ERC workshop, an Entreprelearners seminar and the NANOKOS Workshop on environmental and nanomedicine research. New to this edition of the event was the Women in Science session, alongside other engaging parallel sessions and discussions.
ICN2 had a strong presence with distinguished invited speakers from various research groups, including ICREA Prof. Daniel Maspoch, ICREA Prof. Aitor Mugarza, UAB Prof. Javier Rodríguez-Viejo, alongside Dr Elena del Corro, Dr Ruslán Alvarez, Dr Marianna Rossetti, Dr Gabriel Maroli, and PhD students: Massimo Urban, Nerea de Mariscal, Ronaldo Challhua, Yifan Liang, Jing Yuan, and René Santos.
The conference was a great success, providing an enriching meeting point for nanoscience and biosensor experts and fostering new, future collaborations and the initiation of future projects.
