Prof. Daniel Maspoch Receives the Hermanos Elhuyar - Hans Goldschmidt Lecture Award 2024

by Chema Arcos

This prestigious distinction, granted by the German Chemical Society, recognises his outstanding contributions in materials chemistry.

One of the most important honours of the German Chemical Society (GDCh), the Hermanos Elhuyar - Hans Goldschmidt Lecture 2024, has been awarded to ICREA Prof. Daniel Maspoch, head of the ICN2 Supramolecular Nanochemistry and Materials Group. The prize, awarded in collaboration with the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry, highlights his outstanding scientific career.

Since its inception in 1998, the Hermanos Elhuyar - Hans Goldschmidt Lecture has been awarded to world-renowned scientists in recognition of major contributions to chemistry and materials science. Prof Maspoch's work has focused on the development of Clip-off Chemistry, a novel strategy for the synthesis of new materials. His research also includes the design of reticular structures, such as metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), and delivery systems for a wide range of applications, including water purification, drug delivery and gas storage.

His significant contribution to fields as diverse as chemistry, materials science and nanotechnology has positioned him as an international referent. This recognition comes on top of other outstanding awards, such as the Jaume I Prize for New Technologies, received in 2023.

At ICN2, we are proud of this achievement.
