Announcing the ICN2 Severo Ochoa International Conference “Biosensors for Pandemics 2021”

by Joana Pi Suñer

The ICN2 is pleased to announce the ICN2 Severo Ochoa International Conference that will be held online on 2-3 February 2021. "Biosensors for Pandemic 2021: Reliable and efficient nanotech-based diagnostics in emergency situations" will address the main problems scientific community is facing nowadays for COVID-19 pandemics.

Taking place online next 2-3 February 2021, Biosensors for Pandemics 2021 is the 2nd edition of an Online Conference organised by Phantom Foundation about reliable and efficient nanotech-based diagnostics in emergency situations. It has been developed by ICN2 members ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi (Scientific Chairperson of the Organising Committee), Prof. Laura Lechuga (Scientific Co-Chairperson), and ICREA Prof. Stephan Roche (International Scientific Committee). The ICN2 is supporting the event both with ground-breaking content and institutional funds and , due to this growing involvement, it has become the first of two ICN2 Severo Ochoa International Conferences on Health.

The event is aimed to address the main problems scientific community is facing nowadays for COVID-19 pandemics. The idea is to get together worldwide well-known experts in biosensing technologies who are working currently on COVID-19 diagnostics or have a great potential for application of their technologies in the future. This conference is also addressed to specialists in virology, epidemiology, and other health areas and communication technologies that are crucial for guiding the biosensing community and their diagnostic ideas using biosensors in the right way.

All ICN2 members will have free access granted to this workshop designed to address the main problems faced by the scientific community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Worldwide experts in biosensing technologies working on COVID-19 diagnostics and new potential applications will gather to share their knowledge with you. Details on how to register for free were sent via email. Please contact communication@icn2.cat if you have any question.

During the workshop, a virtual table providing answers to participants and sharing ideas between speakers is previewed. The event will have Oral, FlashPoster, and ePoster contributions that could be shared with all the participants with Open-access. A call for publications on COVID-19 related Biosensing technologies is also planned in collaboration with "Biosensors and Bioelectronics", the principal international journal devoted to research, design, development, and applications of biosensors and bioelectronics.
