Research Professor Laura M. Lechuga, Group Leader of the ICN2 Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, received the Physics, Innovation and Technology RSEF-FBBVA Award on December 14 in Madrid. The Spanish Physics Awards ceremony was celebrated on December 14 in Madrid. Prof. Laura M. Lechuga, Group Leader of the ICN2 Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, received the Physics, Innovation and Technology RSEF-FBBVA Award. Other awardees develop their work in the field of nanoscience or devote their careers to motivate younger scientists and foster the relationship between physics and education and business.

The StableNextSol COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) Action Project integrates and generates fundamental knowledge and expertise to foster disruptive innovations targeted to mitigate device failure and to propose and develop new concepts for more stable emerging solar cells. The project is coordinated by Prof. Mónica Lira-Cantú, Group Leader of the ICN2 Nanostructured Materials for Photovoltaic Energy Group. The European Energy Innovation is a communication platform with the aim of putting energy and transport stakeholders in touch with each other.

The winners of the 2016 GEFES Prize for the best thesis in Condensed Matter Physics developed in Spain have been recently announced. Dr Jackeline Narvaez Morales has won, ex aequo, the award for the best experimental thesis, for her investigation of flexoelectricity in single crystals. Her PhD was conducted at the ICN2 Oxide Nanoelectrics Group under the supervision of ICREA Research Professor Gustau Catalán and Dr Neus Domingo.
