A giant increase in conductivity measured when a semiconductor is submitted to high pressure

ICN2 Oxide Nanoelectronics Group obtains conductivity values for stroncium iridate 250 times higher than in normal conditions, just pressing with nanometric needles. The results, published in Nanoscale, were obtained thanks to the use of the atomic force microscope (AFM) showing that the material could become a good candidate for future applications in sensors and electronics.

ICN2 in the Media: CSIC Prof Laura M Lechuga talks about nanobiosensors in a radio interview with El Microscopio

The Argentine online radio program El Microscopio interviewed CSIC Prof Laura M Lechuga about her work in the field of nanobiosensors and their use as devices to quantify the severity of certain diseases like tuberculosis. They talked about her European project Pocket and how it can contribute in the improvement of disease detection. Moreover, particular characteristics of the project where discussed such as how a nanobiosensor works, how accurate can be or which are the advantages of lab-on-a-chip devices, for instance.

The first H2020 Project with ICN2 as a partner will develop a fast and cheap kit to diagnose Sepsis

The project, led from ICFO and funded with 3€ million by the EC, is entitled "Scalable, point-of-care and label free microarray platform for rapid detection of Sepsis (RAIS)". It will develop a portable microarray platform potentially capable of measuring more than 1 million biotargets. CSIC Prof. Laura M. Lechuga, Group Leader at ICN2, is among the project partners.
