Prof Arben Merkoci, who leads ICN’s Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, has just been named one of ten editors at the prestigious, high-impact journal.

ICREA Research Professor and UAB Professor Arben Merkoci, who heads ICN's Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, has just been named an editor of the prestigious journal Biosensors & Bioelectronics, which describes itself as the "principal international journal devoted to research, design, development and application of biosensors and bioelectronics". He joins nine other editors hailing from various universities and research centres from around the world.

Biosensors & Bioelectronics, which has an impact factor of 5.361 and a 5-year impact factor of 5.397, is published by Elsevier.

Biosensors are a rapidly expanding field, in which biological materials, electronic circuits and diverse sensing methods (electrochemical, optical, magnetic, etc.) are being harnessed to create new, ever-smaller devices for applications like medical diagnostics. Likewise, bioelectronics, in which biological materials and electronics are coupled for applications inside and outside of the life sciences, is offering an ever-increasing array of new developments for information storage and processing, bionics, biological fuel cells and other areas.
