The ICN2 Open House event proved to be a successful venture, introducing students from UAB to the thriving research community at ICN2 and the vast array of opportunities awaiting them in the realm of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
Today, ICN2 played host to an Open House event designed to educate students from UAB Campus about the ins and outs of ICN2 and the promising career pathways that lay ahead. Mònica Sánchez, from the Strategy Development team, organized this rewarding occasion, and it was met with strong interest from both the student body and the ICN2 community.
The day began with an introduction by Human Resources, providing an overview of ICN2 and outlining the prospects of internships and Final Year Projects (TFGs). Following this, brief presentations were made by various research groups, including the Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group and the Nanomedicine Group, showcasing the diverse and cutting-edge research currently taking place within the institution.
Students were then divided into groups for lab tours, with a chance to see ICN2's state-of-the-art facilities up close. These visits were interspersed with excursions around the broader ICN2 premises, giving students a feel for the environment in which they might one day work.
The event wrapped up with a presentation from ICREA Prof. María Escudero Escribano, the head of the ICN2 Nanoelectrocatalysis and Sustainable Chemistry Group, further stimulating student interest in the field.
This initiative highlights the importance of attracting and nurturing a solid student base for the future prosperity of research excellence. Events such as these are also invaluable opportunities for students to interact directly with seasoned research groups, offering them a unique insight into daily activities, work environments, and potential networking opportunities. It gives them a solid foundation upon which they can begin to build their careers.
The Open House event was undoubtedly successful, marked by an atmosphere of enthusiasm and positivity. It underscored ICN2's commitment to engaging with the next generation of researchers and scientists, paving the way for future collaborations and breakthroughs in nanoscience and nanotechnology.
