CATRIN-ICN2 Workshop in Olomouc

by Virginia Greco

In October a delegation from the ICN2 visited the Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN), with which last May our institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaborations. A video of the laboratory tour is now available.

The Czech Advanced Technology and Research Institute (CATRIN) of Palacký University Olomouc hosted a ‘CATRIN-ICN2 Workshop’ on October 17-18, where representatives of the two institutes discussed ideas and opportunities for future R&D collaborations in strategic areas related to nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Prof. Pablo Ordejón, ICN2 Director and leader of the Theory and Simulation Group, ICREA Prof. José Antonio Garrido, ICN2 Vice Director and head of the Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group, and ICREA Prof. Arben Merkoçi, leader of the ICN2 Nanobioelectronics and Biosensors Group, visited in person the laboratories and facilities of CATRIN and met some of its scientists who explained their ongoing research projects. Dr Salvio Suárez, postdoctoral researcher in the ICN2 Nanostructured Functional Materials Group, Prof. Pedro Gomez, leader of the ICN2 Novel Energy-Oriented Materials Group, and Prof. Javier Rodríguez-Viejo, head of the ICN2 Thermal Properties of Nanoscale Materials Group contributed to the discussion by participating online.

Representatives of CATRIN, including its Director Prof. Pavel Banáš, visited ICN2 in May 2022 and, on that occasion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two institutes, with the aim of establishing a programme of scientific cooperation, exchange of ideas, knowledge, and researchers.

A video of the visit at CATRIN is now available here.
