X-Ray diffraction facility - Access

Become a user

To get access to the facility, new users have to follow the procedure below:
Step 1

It is mandatory to receive a training to make proper user of the equipment (only for internal users). So, contact Dr. Jessica Padilla (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to make an appointment in order to get the training.

The powder diffractometer (X’pert PRO MPD) is the only one to be used as an open access for internal users. External users should contact Jessica.

The thin film diffractometer (X’pert PRO MRD) is not allowed to be used as auto as an open access. So, internal and external users should contact Jessica.

Step 2

Then, after the training is completed the user will be authorized for: (i) facility access (fingerprint access), (ii) access to the IMS online booking system (available on the ICN2 intranet) and (iii) added to the facility user mailing list. All the information related with the XRD facility will be communicated trough the mailing list.

Training and Booking

External users are invited to contact the XRD Facility personnel (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) to discuss collaboration opportunities.

XRD internal users can book the equipment (only Powder Diffractometer) via the IMS booking system available on the ICN2 intranet (search the XRD lab schedule):

Step 1

Enter the booking application by entering your username and password from your ICN2 account.

Step 2

Check the availability of the calendar for the MPD diffractometer and select the desired time slot you want to use. Booking will be made in 15 minute segments. Please, do not reserve more time than you could need.

Step 3

If for some reasons you cannot attend the XRD session, you must notify the person in charge of the facility.

Step 4

For non-open access instrumentation and special setups in MPD (transmission, capillary or SAXS measurements), assistance is provided upon request. Please contact Dr. Jessica Padilla (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

General Rules

Please do not abuse on your timing with them if you are aware that others users want to make use of them.

If for reasons unrelated to the XRD Facility you cannot attend the booked session, you must notify the Facility Staff as early as possible at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

If you don’t notify the cancellation, 50% of the established fee for the booked service will be charged as a penalty.
