Five companies from the UAB Research Park network have been selected and will receive funding for their projects with a total of 272,245 euros. Applied Nanoparticles was gestated from the research led by the ICREA Research Prof. Victor Puntes, Group Leader of the ICN2 Inorganic Nanoparticles Group. The objective of this grant is to fund a business feasibility study.

The fourth edition of the Ideas Generation Program has announced its finalists. Among the 5 finalists 3 are involving researchers from ICN2: Organic Infra Sensing (with Anna Magrasó, Nanomaterials Growth Division), 2D EDGE (with Damia Viana, Advanced Electronic Materials and Devices Group) and Pump It (with Carlos Rubio, previous member of the Nanomaterials Growth Division).

Top industry leaders discussed recent advances in technology developments and business opportunities in graphene commercialization. ICN2 was among the sponsors of the event and had a leading role at the ICEX booth presenting the “Graphene” champions in Spain.

In an article published in Small, researchers successfully applied a new qualitative and quantitative method for the detection of a DNA sequence characteristic of Leishmania infantum kinetoplast, a frequent parasite in veterinary that affects humans too. The work was led from the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) and the Spin Off company Vetgenomics.

The Llotja de Mar de Barcelona hosted today the IX edition of the Industrial Applications of Nanotechnology (AIN). ICN2, the Instituto de Nanociencia de Aragón (INA) and LEITAT, together with the Cambra de Comerc de Barcelona, celebrated this yearly event in a very friendly and constructive environment.
