The ICN2 has participated in a research led by the ICMAB-CSIC and the ALBA Synchrotron to study the optical transport properties of transition metal oxides for photovoltaics applications.

Researchers of the ICN2 NanoBiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, led by Prof. Laura M. Lechuga, in collaboration with Lionix International company (The Netherlands), have developed a photonic nano-immunosensor platform for real-time and on-site monitoring of ocean pollutants. This stand-alone device, developed in the context of the H2020 project BRAAVOO, will allow faster and cheaper monitoring of the marine environment.

Prof. Mónica Lira-Cantu (ICN2) and Prof. Zakya Kafafi (Lehigh University) are the Co-Chairs of the Women in Renewable Energy conference endorsed by SPIE. The event will have sessions devoted to the technical aspects of renewable energy together with a roundtable and a presentation focused on gender equality.

A research performed in the ICN2 Magnetic Nanostructures Group has resulted in a route to synthesise spinel oxide nanocubes that overcomes some of the limitations presented by previous approaches. This methodology covers a wide range of sizes and may be used for different materials. The results have been published in ACS Nano.

The Collider is a tech transfer programme promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona that connects scientific research with entrepreneurial initiative. The awarded “Radiative Cooling” project aims to improve the efficiency of electrical devices by cooling them using infrared radiation.
