Researchers from the ICN2 Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group have led a research which synchronised for the first time a couple of optomechanical oscillators. This work sets a solid basis for producing reconfigurable networks of such oscillators, with potential applications in neuromorphic computing, a field of research that intends to imitate neurological structures to improve computation.

Prof. Yang Shao-Horn, Professor of Energy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and one of The World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds, according to Thomson Reuters, gave a talk on electrochemical energy storage on June 17 at the ICN2. The event was organized as part of the Manuel Cardona Lecture series.

The act was held within the framework of the Quantum exhibition. Dr Ferran Guedea and Prof. Laura Lechuga presented some topics related to the science behind the detection and treatment of cancer.

A special session on disorder photonics, organized by Dr. Pedro David García Fernandez from the ICN2 and Dr. Jacopo Bertolotti from the University of Exeter (UK), was held at PIERS 2019 – Rome to discuss recent development of this multi-application research field.

Starting this morning in Rome, this edition of the Graphene Conference series (June 25-28) will bring together experts on graphene and 2D materials from around Europe, as well as companies interested in exploiting new promising technologies in this field.
