On November 15, a special event was organized to present to the whole ICN2 community the new directions and opportunities provided by the second Severo Ochoa Programme. The event was organized by the ICN2 Management and the Strategy Development Office, together with the Severo Ochoa Programme Committee.

The ICN2 celebrated two lab tours to share with young students some the facts and wonders of the nanoscale. The visits were hosted by the Nanobiosensors and Bioanalytical Applications Group, led by Prof. Laura Lechuga, and coordinated by the ICN2 Marketing and Communication Department. Two institutes located in Barcelona also hosted a talk about nanotechnology by the ICN2 to celebrate the Science Week.

An Alliance for Materials Memorandum has been published by the EuMaT, with the aim to underline the paramount importance of materials science and technology in addressing societal challenges and to state the Materials community’s commitments for a better future.

Researchers from the ICN2 and the ICMM-CSIC have developed a new material able to cool another one by emitting infrared radiation. The results are published in Small and are expected to be used in devices where an increase in temperature has drastic effects on performance, like solar panels and computer systems, among other applications.
