Lab tours give young students the opportunity to interact with real scientists and get a sense of what happens at a research centre. Last week almost 100 students came through our doors to learn about the research carried out at the ICN2. This event was made possible thanks to the participation of the researchers and admin personnel who gave up some their time to organise some unique experiences.

Last month Dr Belen Ballesteros, leader of the ICN2 Electron Microscopy Unit, gave a talk at the La Vall secondary school in Bellaterra. In a forerunner to the events planned at the ICN2 as part of the Spanish “11F” promotion of women and girls in science, her talk aimed to show another face of science, while also introducing the students to exciting field of nanotechnology.

The ICN2 has collaborated in the organisation of a nano exhibition at the Gas Natural Fenosa Foundation Gas Museum in Sabadell, Barcelona, together with the Institute of Nanoscience of Aragon and FECYT, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology. ICN2 Director Pablo Ordejon and head of the Marketing and Communications Department, Àlex Argemi, attended the official inauguration yesterday afternoon.

The final Nano2All citizen dialogue was held in Barcelona this month at the CCCB. As the project moves into its next stage, the stakeholder dialogues, we leave you with a review of this playful event which had participants building future objects that exploit the possibilities of brain-computer interfaces.
