Biolab facility - Access
Access
The ICN2 Biolab has an access system restricted by fingerprint that controls the electronic opening of the door lock and is limited to those people who have been previously authorized by the supervisor of the facility. To get access to the ICN2 Biolab Facility, all users must take special biosafety training before they are allowed in the facility. Users will also need to be trained and demonstrate proficiency in the equipment they wish to use before they can operate themselves. External users may need to fulfill some additional requirements related to site security. Equipment time is generally scheduled through the intranet calendar on a first-come, first-served basis. Whenever the work in the Biolab Facility involves the use of biological agents that require biosafety level 2 or above or the use of GMOs, an online declaration of activities must be submitted to the Institutional Biosafety Committee of the UAB (IBC-UAB) before the start of the activity.
