In November 2015 Prof Albert Fert visited ICN2. We had the opportunity to interview him and record his ICN2 Manuel Cardona Lecture entitled "Spin-orbitronics, a new direction for spintronics". With the aim of bringing nanoscience and nanotechnology closer to the classrooms, the promoters of the Program designed a kit of educational nano experiences that linked with different subjects. NanoEduca is formed by University of Barcelona (UB), the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and CESIRE (Catalan Department of Education). Over 200 students participated in the event held at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB), as part of the Festival 10alamenos9.

Lluis Rovira, Director of the CERCA Institution, chaired the event that introduced the result of two years of diagnosis and discussion within the ICN2 Equal Opportunities Committee. The Plan presented on february first seeks to ensure that ICN2 offers equal opportunities for men and women and to promote the development of women in the scientific career.

Over 200 students, together with their families and teachers, participated in the launch event of Mad for Science 2016 (Bojos per la Ciència), an initiative to bring High School students closer to real research. ICN2 co-coordinates the Mad for Physics Program, together with IFAE. Àlex Argemí, ICN2 Head of Marketing and Communication, presented the initiative.
